Submissions

The Saskatchewan Law Review seeks to publish traditional and innovative legal scholarship of high quality. Topics may be of international, national, or provincial interest. We ask that authors confirm upon submission that their article has not previously been published and is not currently under review elsewhere. All submissions must contain an abstract of 150-250 words. The word limitations for submissions (excluding the abstract but inclusive of footnotes) are as follows:

  • Articles: 20,000 words
  • Case Comment/Statute Notes: 15,000 words
  • Book Reviews: 5000 words

Manuscripts submitted to the Review undergo a two-stage review process. The internal review takes approximately 3-4 weeks during which the article is assessed for suitability in the Review. If the article passes internal review, it is sent for a double-blind peer review. This process usually takes 6-8 weeks but may take longer depending on reviewer availability. Authors should also be aware that the Review does not operate during the months of December and April which may impact the above timelines.

All submissions and other communications must be submitted electronically to sask.lawreview@usask.ca. Manuscript submission is preferred in Microsoft Word format. The text and footnotes should be double-spaced, and all citations must conform to the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citations.
